PFAS Wastewater Reduction
NPDES Program Compliance Services
Illinois PFAS Reduction Initiative
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) is rolling out a PFA. The initiative applies to Publicly Owned Treatment Works that are classified as a major discharger by USEPA and are likely to receive wastewater contamination due to PFAS. To help eliminate and/or control the amount of PFAS being discharged to the sewer system, the permittee will be required to:
- Monitor for PFAS compounds
- Require Best Management Practices (BMP’s) be developed by specific industrial facilities.
The Challenge
POTWs implementing an IEPA approved industrial pretreatment program pursuant to 40 CFR §403 must identify nondomestic users that contribute wastewater to the sewer system; these dischargers may have pollutants which are incompatible with conventional wastewater treatment systems. This includes the inventory of emerging pollutants (chemicals and compounds not currently regulated or widely monitored), such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances – known as PFAS.
DROP Collaborative’s PFAS Reduction Solution
DROP Collaborative provides turnkey PFAS compliance services that integrate seamlessly with your existing pretreatment program:
